Mens Engagement Rings

mens engagement ringsTraditionally when you think of an engagement you think about the special event when a man gives a woman an engagement ring and asks her to marry him. But what if i told you that today, mens engagement rings have become very popular. Maybe you would laugh at me, but it is true.

I rememeber the first time i heard about this new concept was about a year ago when i was attending the wedding of two artists from New York city. I remember seeing on the mans finger a beautiful art deco engagement ring and I thought it a bit odd. I kept on asking myself why the bride didn’t have on on her finger. Well a few hours later after the cermony and duirng the reception I actually found out why. After congratulating the newly weds I asked them why he and not she was wearing the ring, I wondered what exactly were these mens engagement rings. After looking at each other and smiling the bride gave my this reply: “Well I actually proposed to Rob and I am all for trying out new things”. I had to smile at her reply because it was a completely new way at looking at it.

Nowadays old rules of tradition are starting to erode and people are starting to try new things, gone is the complete monopoly on just a man proposing to a woman. In our more open society we gay and lesbian couples also have a need to profess their love for each other and these engagement rings are increaslingly a sought after commodity.

How do they differ from womans engagement rings?

Well male rings are normally much simpler and cheaper than the female equivilant. In a womans ring the diamond may be big and the design extremely detailed and elgant. A mans ring can be expensive though, many mens engagement ringsĀ  can come with diamonds or whatever you would like to include in them. The engagement ring settings are much different too.

All in all the thought of engagement rings made for men is definitly something very new and interesting. Although I was suprised when I first heard of it, I have come to imbrace it.Is this just a fad which will disappear a year or a few months from now? I highly doubt that, it looks as though we are stuck with this new product of modern development, it looks as though mens engagement rings are here to stay!
