Pearl Engagement Rings

Have you ever considered buying an alternative to the traditional diamond engagement ring? Pearl engagement rings are such an alternative and I am going to be writing about them today.

Although a diamond is probably the most beautiful center-piece stone you can get for an engagement ring, it is not your only choice and it should not be. I know a few happy couples who instead opted for choosing pearls. Not because pearl rings are cheaper, but because the pearl ring suited the look and feel they wanted from their special ring. Their ring may have a pearl in the place where a diamond would usually be, but this is not at all bad. Honestly it looks fantastic and they have often been complimented on their choice.

Here are 5 reasons why you may want to consider pearl engagement rings:

1)      Pearl rings are more rare than diamond counterparts, you are sure to turn a head when wearing one.

2)      There is a good choice of different pearls with different values available. There are very expensive ones and very cheap ones.

3)      Pearl rings often are much more suitable to certain styles of engagement rings. For example I love pearls on art deco engagement rings.

4)      You can add pearl and diamonds to together to make an even more stunning ring

5)      Pearls actually require more skill than diamonds to set into a ring.

Are they expensive?

When people ask me this question I often say to myself “not again”, why? I do this, because the cost of an engagement ring depends on many factors and therefore it is very hard estimate how much a certain type of ring will cost. Pearl engagement rings can be cheap if more affordable materials are used to make it. For example a culture pearl with a white gold band would cost a lot less than a black saltwater pearl made with a solid god band. Pearls can also sometimes cost more than diamond rings because of the level of difficulty associated with setting the pearl on to the ring.
